Meal Plan: Lunch, Dinner
The Tsavo East National Park safari begins with a pick up at your beach hotel or at the Mombasa port. We’ll head out early on the Mombasa-Nairobi Highway passing local farms as we traverse the scenic plains. It’s only about a 2 ½ hour drive to the park so we should arrive mid-morning, ready to begin our first game drive.
The park is home to Africa’s “Big Game” – lion, leopard, Cape buffalo and herds of elephants. There’s also plenty of birdlife- 500 species! So be on the lookout for lovebird, black kite and ibis on your safari.
After lunch, we’ll head out to spot more of the abundant wildlife here – zebra, cheetah, warthog, and giraffe. Later in the day, as the temperature cools, we’ll be watching for big game emerging into the brisk evening air to forage for food.
Soon it’s your turn to enjoy dinner and relax at the lodge or tented campground of your choice.
Overnight at your safari lodge or tented camp
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch.
We’re up early with the rising sun and the first stirring of the animals! This is the best way to view the awakening savannah and wildlife as it emerges into the new day. Be ready for the adventure of the “hunt”.
After this first game drive, we’ll be hunting for a hearty safari breakfast at our accommodation.
Later, we’ll check out from our lodge, but the animal spotting isn’t over. We’ll go for a final game drive as we depart the park. We may see the Aruba Dam and Mudanda Rock, two well-known watering holes, where thousands of animals come to drink.
On our journey back to the coast, we’ll stop for lunch at an open-air, rustic restaurant with dramatic vistas of the Tsavo East plains.
In the late afternoon light, we’ll head back to the Kenya Coast. We’ll bring you back to your beach resort or the Mombasa port.
